3rd PARTY CONGRESS CONVENES, NEW CENTRAL COMMITTEE & POLITBURO ELECTED



Moscow - Yesterday afternoon the third Party Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union met in the Kremlin and party members kept themselves busy with debate, policy reform proposals, and the election of the Central Committee.

Later in the afternoon, it was announced that the twenty-five member committee had just elected the members of the Politburo, the true governing body of the Soviet Union, consisting of seven members. Though tradition maintains that older party members, having served the people and party of the USSR for a long period of time, are elected to key positions such as General Secretary it was a young, enthusiastic Vladslav Lukin who managed to grab the position of Head of State and Government.

On the Premier's list of tasks and goals for the nation, by extension the Politburo and Central Committee's tasks and goals, are an increase in heavy industry, a decrease in unemployment, and the initiation of foreign relations with other nations.

FOREIGN RELATIONS ESTABLISHED WITH METZ, TRADE AGREEMENT IS VICTORY FOR LUKIN

Metz - A jubilant Soviet Premier vigorously shook the hand of the Metzian King after an impressive trade agreement had been signed and General Secretary Lukin claimed his first victory on the international stage yesterday afternoon.

"This limited but important agreement will act as the foundation for future cooperation between our two countries...there is no doubt in my mind that relations between the Soviet Union and the Kingdom of Metz will always be cordial and friendly." Premier Lukin said to Metzian news officials.

The Soviet Union and our Premier are relatively unknown upon the world stage, in contrast to Clamparapa and Canton Rouge, but the meeting between a well respected Hyrulean leader, King Gavin II, and Premier Lukin will help direct some light and good publicity to our grand socialist nation.

Already, the other members of the Central Committee have been quick to praise the efforts of the premier and it seems that support for Lukin is still quite strong, two years into the young party member's term as Premier.

DEFENSE MINISTRY REVEALS NEW MAIN BATTLE TANK FOR RED ARMY



Moscow - The new standard for the Red Army in tank production has been unveiled today, with no responses of yet from foreign defense ministries or military commands.

Production for the T-44, as it is dubbed, is scheduled to begin in the spring of next year, with plans to completely phase out the current main battle tank of the Soviet Union within the next few years.

Members of the Central Committee and Politburo sang much praise for the Defense Ministry and the Minister himself after a press conference was held revealing the new design and plan for production. Though the Soviet Union still lags somewhat behind the capitalist nations of Hyrule in terms of pure military strength this new tank will provide the enormous first step in reducing and eliminating this deficit.
