| (OOC: Please see the OOC: The Borderlands thread before posting here)
On the edge of the Kingdom lays a great danger. The ever growing power of the Militant group led by Rudi Redelinghuys remains safe just outside of the boundaries of The Kingdom. They are known as “The Resistance”. They linger, sitting and waiting for the right chance to pounce on The Kingdom.
Whenever one the small towns on the edge of The Kingdom are weakened with sickness, poverty, or lack of police, the Resistance will be there to take advantage of the town. They raid, pillage and sometimes even destroy a village. They take prisoners to make them slaves outside of the country to mine for materials that they can sell on the black market. They take small children and train them as soldiers, to help in the next raid and enforce their will.
General Simba Lusala, General of the Lion Army of The Kingdom, has vowed to put an end to this infection of The Kingdom. He grew up in one of the towns that was destroyed. Rudi Redelinghuys himself shot and killed his father right in front of him, took his brother to train as a soldier, and then set fire to his house, saying that he was too small and pathetic to be of any help for The Resistance. He was left to burn inside of his own home, however he had escaped, and kept a mental image of Rudi that will never be forgotten. Should he ever see that face again, he shall kill the man.
General Simba Lusala took a small contingent of The Elephant Army. He vowed to put an end to the threat and take revenge upon Rudi.

Private Alexi Masalan of the Elephant Army here. Our contingent of infantry, armor, and aircraft have been given a seemingly impossible task: eliminate the Resistance. They say they appear one moment and disappear the next. But we're not afraid of them.
Morale here is high amongst our squad. When we left our barracks, cheers were loud, and we were all talking about how quickly this fight will be. Soon, I hope to be back with my comrades at the base, thinking about family, country, and freedom.
Long live the Kingdom of Metz!

| (OOC: Well done CR ) General Simba Lusala ha made a camp at a ruined village where his men stayed for three days. The men remained happy, despite the smell of the burning buildings to the east of the camp, created by the ruins of what was left of the poor village that was full of activity four days prior. General Lusala had new plans for this day. After having looked at the recent attacks of The Resistance, it appeared that they would be attacking one of the next villages to the east. He awoke his men before the morning sun had completely broken the Horizen. They remained happy, despite the village, thinking in their minds that the next attack would have a different outcome since they would be there to defend. With the small contigent consisting of a small but quick and manueverable force of three MD 500 Helicopters for scouting purposes, two Apache Helicopters to attack if need be, and three CH-53D Sea Stallion helicopters for transporting purposes. As far as the infantry go, they numbered at 3,000 men, including around 500 to help coordinate communication amongst everyone and help set up camps/move supplies. As far as the enemy went, they had no idea what they numbered in, or what equipment they had. However they all knew that they had the best training that The Kingdom had to offer, and when looking at the men standing to next to them, they would do anything to achieve success and save their brothers. (OOC: Just to clarify in front of everyone, I only want The Resistance to use a Max of 5,000 men, a few (1-5) Cheetah Tanks, and some artillery or either type. All equipment that they will use will be equipment taken from The Kingdom itself, so either force can use captured equipment, is trained to use it ect. Please refer to my national Factifile to see all of the Military Equipment that my nation uses. PM me if you would like to use any other equipent not used/stated) | |

I'm writing this in the early morning hours. We've been woken up early for our first true assignment in this battle. Apparently, the Resistance has a plan to attack a certain village east of our position, and it's our job to ensure that when they do attack, they don't succeed.
We don't know what the Resistance has in the terms of manpower, equipment, etc. And we don't know how many of them will be attacking. But I know that if they try and stop us, they will not last long against our trained warriors.
The General is ordering us onto the helicopters now, so I suppose it's time I sign off. Long live the Kingdom!

| Rudy Redelinghuys sent 10 of his squad towards Simba Lusala's army's position. Each man carried a pistol on each hip and an SMG on their back. Rudy's lead scout, General Robert Eansni, reported that the army was planning to mobilize east of their current position. "Wait, that's towards us! No!" said Rudy, with dismay. They were sitting just outside of a city getting ready to take it over. As far as equipment went, they had no tanks or helicopters. Each man in the 300 man squad he had with him carried a sniper rifle, an SMG, a couple handguns, and as much ammo as they could carry and still be agile and mobile. They also each had a few hand grenades and Moltov Cocktails. They would have to act quickly to be able to decimate the city, and then still be able to escape before Simba got here. Great. As if Rudy's day wasn't bad enough already. | |

| The elephant army had landed and began to set up camp a mile or two away from the city. They typically tried to avoid staying in a city, as spies and other dangers presented themselves there. As the men wer unpacking the helicopters, and beggining to get dreary, they heard a loud bang that came from the city and everyone instantly stopped what they were doing. A few seconds later screams and smoke consumed the landscape that surrounded the Elephant Army. General Simba immediatly began to send out orders.
"I want 200 men to go around the town to the right in a flanking manuevre, send another 200 to the left for the same reason. Send in a 400 man force right at the city in full charge. We need them to get there ASAP and save what we can! We have a mile to run boys...I hope to god your training was good."
within seconds the small task force began to scramble this way and that as the lesse officers took over from there. You could see the excitement in some of the younger mens eyes as they finally thought they would get their first taste of combat. Suddenly, several men were being shot and killed instantly.
The entire unit that was going to flank from the left had to fall and lay down in the tall grass that grew all over the Kingdom. The main attack force had lost its entire front line it seemed and had a slowed progression, but was able to detect where the shots were coming from and began to shoot back. The right attack force was too slow off the start, and was ordered to retreat in order to save lives, as their right flank move had already been seen and would have been useless.
They hoped that the enemy would need to reload, move positions, or retreat from the burning city so that the sniper fire woud stop and give the men a chance to move closer and use rifles. They were not prepared for a sniper exchange...

| As Rudy's squad started to reload, He told his men to stop, bag whatever they could from the general store and such, and get the hell out of there. as they went to leave the city, they called back that the city was surrounded. "Simba is a good general. He's a man after my own heart. EANSNI!" "Yes, sir!" "Get a head count. If it comes down to hand-to-hand, I rather not be out numbered." "Sir, yes, sir!" He called back he counted 350, 50 dead. "No! Men, get your guns ready. Use your SMGs and pick off who you can. We have to get those numbers down. We stopped the sniper fire, so they're either too close or too protected for that now. we'll have to go hand-to-hand." he wished he had listened to Eansni, and brought at least one helicopter. "Alright, Simba, your move." he said under his breath as the battle raged... | |

| (OOC: CR feel free to actually RP as the soldier during combat and such. You are not forced to stick with journal entries only btw...but thats works pefectly fine as well ) IC: The soldiers were finally able to get close. It seemed as though they would be able to engage in hand to hand combat, however the enemy discovered that the right flank had stopped its progression forward, and immeidatly acted upon the opening. The rebels threw their grenades at the thick grass that the Elephant army was in, creating large pockets of fire, that with the change in wind could easily be thown into the soldiers positions. The enemy began to escape, with minor casualties, as the Elephant army had to run half way around the little town before being able to enter it. As they walked in all they could hear were the cries of severaly wounded citizens. Many of which would die even if a medic was sent, so the soldiers stayed to try and comfort them as best they coul untill their final moment. Other men gabbed buckets of water and tried to save people who were locked in a burning building, but just as they started making progress on the fire, the wooden structure collapsed, and with it, all hope of rescue collapsed as well. The men continued to do their best and save whomever they could. Many of the women were crying, as their children had been taken by the Rebel, and their mothers knew of their future and fate. The city in all had lost 90% of its population, and every building within the city has taken damage in some form, otherwise it had been raided for its supplies and left with nearly nothing. The men began to set up camp inside the city so they could help whomever they could for the next few days... The only good news is that the Elephant army had not suffered as many losses as originally thought. Although there were around 100 dead from sniper fire and assualt rifle combat, many men were able to recieve treatment and would be ok after a week or two. The first encounter with Rudi Redelinghuys was not what Simba had wanted. He would need to improve many things before the Rebel and his forces could be defeated. | |

| Rudy had just escaped. When he had his men throw the grenades, he grabbed some kids for future warrior purposes, and ran like hell. His soldiers followed. As he got back to base, he sent the children with their drill sargeant/barracks officer/new surrogate father-figure. he felt no remorse for them. After all, this was how he grew up, and look how he turned out. It would be good for them. He went back to base and counted his men. During the assult rifle exchange, he lost twelve men, way less then expected. This was good. What was bad, was that he had A. stopped sniper fire too soon, allowing the enemy time to find cover, B. had freaked out and allowed himself to be surrounded, and C. had not brought a helicopter for escape purposes. He would allow himself to make those mistakes again. he sat down in the nearest chair, and put his face in his palms. This fight was the only thing he had to live for. Why was it so hard? He ot up and went to his office, and started to plan his next takeover. "Uneasy rests the head who wears the crown," Rudy whispered under his breath, and he searched his map of the kingdom for the next vulnerable city... | |

| The General began to move his troops, with a few helicopters searching nearby cities for any odd activity. So far they had found nothing, however it was day time. The soldiers continued their march through the tall grass and fields.
They stopped for lunch as the dawn grew closer, hoping that they would be able to catch a glimpse of Rudi and his men and begin a chase after him.
