Insularia's International Relations Empty
PostSubject: Insularia's International Relations   Insularia's International Relations EmptyWed 2 Sep 2009 - 18:16

OOC: my first RP story on the forum - feel free to join in, even if it's not as good as you're used to!

In the decadent surroundings of the former presidential palace in Munzao, Insularia's new rulers were meeting to discuss the international position of the nation they now held firmly in their control. They were the seven members of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Insularia: the most powerful officials in the country - and none more powerful than Roger Fenguo, the enigmatic Party Chairman.

Though the Politburo strove to present an image of consensual leadership to the country, the meetings such as these (which invariably took place behind closed doors) were often rife with conflict.

"Gentlemen, please." The Chairman raised a hand to signal an end to a particularly heated exchange. "We must all acknowledge that an isolationist approach in our foreign policy will ultimately be to the detriment of the Party and the Republic. The Federation of United Technocrats is an important regional power; it is therefore in our interest to pursue diplomatic relations -"

Raphael Karsos, Policy Development Secretary, interjected defiantly - "You propose that we align ourselves with those capitalists and anarchists? The FUT is teeming with enemies of the revolution! We cannot seriously propose such a policy, Chairman."

"Nonsense. In any case, we must seek legitimacy through the recognition of our new government by foreign powers. To that end, I have decided to pursue the opening of diplomatic relations with the FUT, Ness Snorlaxia, the Republic of Porcu, the Kingdom of Sir Metz, South Malaysia and Starman Deluxe as a matter of urgency. I will hear no more arguments to the contrary. Good evening gentlemen, this meeting is ajourned."

The seven men rose from their seats, bowed somberly and made their way from the room. Insularia was set on a new course; Fenguo was determined to collude with foreign powers of differing ideologies whilst furthering the socialist cause at home. Karsos, and others less willing to voice their opinions had deep reservations - was the Chairman losing his revolutionary fire?

Executive Villa
Federated City, South Malaysia

"We're open to relations with nations of a technological disadvantage nation but we need to be clear that we try to stay neutral unless we can't," High Chancellor Warwick said to his Secretary of Diplomacy Affairs," so I say open we open up the relations between us and this new power in the region."

"I would have to agree High Chancellor. I have prepared a message to be send to Insularia," Secretary Jones said passing a PADD with the message to the High Chancellor.

High Chancellor Warwick reviewed the message and passed it back. "Looks good to me, send it out when you leave and it should arrive by midday tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by, I'll see you later this week at the meeting."

To whom it concerns,

The Federation of South Malaysia is interested in establishing diplomatic relations with Insularia.

South Malaysia is a peaceful technologically advanced nation that is mostly neutral when it comes to some nation-to-nation affairs.

We would be open to further dialog with your nation if you wish.

Thank you for your time,

Rick Jones,
Secretary of Diplomatic Affairs.

To: Insularia
Priority: High.

We hereby respectfully inform you that our nation fully recognizes the sovereignty of Insularia and will respect the decisions made by the Politburo of the Communist Party of Insularia as its only legitimate governing body. In particular, we will support the decisions of Roger Fenguo, the Party Chairman, whom we hold in high esteem.
